Bye bye lampin

Lampin is a traditional cloth diaper for babies in the Philippines; it’s usually made of cotton gauze or birdseye cloth.  It’s cheap and it helps prevent rashes. The only problem is that it has to be changed every time it gets wet and dirty, plus it has to be washed. Unlike disposable diapers, some of them last for 12 hours like what I am using with my baby, Pampers baby dry. I decided to buy some lampin when I was in Manila because I want to experience using it with my baby, it made me feel pinoy in France. My mother had a 3 months vacation here; she helped me with using lampin. I remember her telling me that I should use lampin from time to time, so my baby can relax her bum from the disposable diaper. My husband and mother-in-law asked so many questions about it and I sensed that they find it bizarre, but they respected my decision to use it. I’ve used it until 3 months, I needed to stop using it because the weather was getting cold and my baby has to wear pantalon inside the house. I couldn’t use it anymore, otherwise I have to change lampin and pantalon every time, and it would be labadami for me. It’s a shame I have to stop; it was a good experience though.
